Yummy, Lovely, Luscious Spring

Winter exhaled and was smothered to death by spring's unseasonably hot breath. The edges of the street that were covered by snow for months were suddenly sizzling with eighty five degree temperatures. Ashevillians came out of their houses with hesitance, unable to fully trust the dramatic shift. Daffodils bloomed and wilted in a few day and the magnolia and cherry trees began to leaf instantly through their blossoms. Not wanting to complain, we opened our arms in gratitude and pleaded with spring, asking her not to sizzle away too quickly so that we may bask in her fresh, green glory. Then the rains came, cooling us and feeding the lush leafiness all around us. The stark forest in our back yard has come back to life and dances in different hues of green. It is now in the seventies and absolutely perfect outside. The shock has begun to wear off and all the citizens of spring band together in scant clothing and fresh sunburns. We breath deeply and take a collective sigh of relief as we take it all in. The season of hope has returned and our visions spread months beyond the new buds that surround us and into the grand plans of summers hot, vast expanse. My yogic training reminds me to be here now, in my freshly cut lawn and barely planted garden. To be aware of every moment and take none of it for granted. My heart blooms with gratitude as I take in all that is.
