Late September Morning

The mountains sit, quietly absorbing the rain from days past. We watch anxiously to see if the trees are starting to change color yet.
"Wet years make for good color in the fall," and old man at the gas station told me.

I hope so. The equinox is behind us and I am ready for Autumn splendor. I am ready to let go of the hot summer days and wrap myself in cool, pumpkin spiced nights. The eighty degree weather of the past few days defiantly wraps us all in a late summer haze, and laughs wickedly at my seasonable preferences. I wipe the sweat from my brow and sigh longingly. Knowing that the cold will be here soon enough. Knowing that we must all surrender to natures will. What choice do we have?

This morning is promising however. I have been up since 7, and have been encouraged by the cool and misty air. Tallulah sits comfortably in her bed in the window, the blue gray sky a perfect backdrop for her picturesque slumber. Green tea warms my belly and the early morning silence is soothing and full of possibility.
Autumn flirts with daytime.
