Love and Pumpkins

For our six year anniversary Dustin and I went down south to the beautiful city of Savannah, Georgia. It is an old, southern city dripping with history and live oak trees. The brick buildings and cobble stone streets are interrupted by small parks, all precisely placed throughout the city on a grid . Ivy dripped down upon the apartment buildings, all of which are so old and charming I wanted to move in immediately. Savannah film festival was going on and the streets were alive with people. We listened to amazing live blues music down by the river and, much to our amusement, drank beer in the streets! (allowed in the city if it is in a plastic cup)

The next day we headed out to Tybee Island, just 15 miles or so east of the city, and saw the beach for the first time since we moved here!! It was Dustin's first time seeing the Atlantic. It was such a windy and grey day it almost felt as if we were back in Oregon at the coast. The air was unusually cold for the area but I welcomed the cold weather. We grabbed some lunch at a tourist trap called the Crab Shack, which served all food in styrofoam containers and had a mini crocodile pool in their parking lot. Dinner was spent in downtown Savannah at an Italian joint and we hit up a local bar called Pinkies for a nightcap. All in all it was a fab anniversary and we were thrilled to get out of town.

Now we're back and it is Halloween eve. Our carved pumpkins are lit outside and I see the first trick or treaters approaching for their treats. Dustin is at work and I am staying warm and cozy inside this year with my Harry Potter and some tea. Awaiting all the cute and painted faces that knock on our door (hopefully! Else I'll be left with a bowl full of candy and head full of guilt).

Happy Halloween Y'all!!

Moved!!

Lifting, packing, moving, lifting, packing.
For days, for weeks for ever.
But here we are and it seems there will be an end to all these boxes.
We moved in on Sunday (with help of our dear friend Rachael) and our house is splendiferous. Despite the boxes and lack of pictures it is so brand new and lovely. Our friends Kate and Jamie bought it last year, and remodeled the entire inside. Beautiful hardwood floors, a claw foot bathtub and a huge kitchen!!!

One of these days we'll hang pictures and have a housewarming party. In the meantime we are both working away. It is peak tourist season here in the mountains and Asheville is saturated with out of towners. It is still strangely warm and I am ready for hat and scarf season. I am still in the process of applying to school and will start classes in January. I have started the first Harry Potter book and am anxious to lose myself in all seven books!!

One of these days I shall have something creative to write.
Until then....
Ciao.
